Electronic waste is the world’s fastest growing waste stream, with more than 100,000 tonnes of unwanted electricals thrown away in the UK each year.
Anything with a plug, battery or cable counts as electronic waste. These items must never be placed in your household bins, as they can cause fires and environmental harm. Instead, they can be:
- repaired at Bedford Repair Café
- donated to Share Bedford’s Library of Things
- passed on locally through Freecycle or Freegle
- returned to an electronics retailer for recycling
- recycled at the Household Waste Recycling Centre, Barkers Lane
