Keep it safe and sustainable – repair, donate or recycle your electricals

Electronic waste is the world’s fastest growing waste stream, with more than 100,000 tonnes of unwanted electricals thrown away in the UK each year.

Anything with a plug, battery or cable counts as electronic waste. These items must never be placed in your household bins, as they can cause fires and environmental harm. Instead, they can be:

  • repaired at Bedford Repair Café
  • donated to Share Bedford’s Library of Things
  • passed on locally through Freecycle or Freegle
  • returned to an electronics retailer for recycling
  • recycled at the Household Waste Recycling Centre, Barkers Lane
